Mentor Programme for Early-Career Tax Professionals

Supporting the next generation of tax experts through guidance, dialogue, and shared experience

As part of the International Fiscal Association, Dansk Skattevidenskabelig Forening offers a Mentor Programme designed for early‑career tax professionals who are ready to build their competencies, explore career opportunities, and develop a clear sense of direction within the tax field. The programme connects mentees with highly experienced professionals from across the industry for structured, confidential, and goal‑oriented mentoring.

Who Is The Programme For

The programme is aimed at professionals who are:

– Interested in building a career in tax and willing to invest time and focus during the programme
– Have begun their careers in tax (typically around 2 years of experience)
– Are members of YIN
– Are committed to developing both short‑term and long‑term career goals
– Are motivated to use the support of experienced mentors with recognised expertise
– Are interested in building a career in tax and willing to invest time and focus during the programme

What You Can Work On

Depending on your interests, mentoring may include topics such as:

– Building a long-term career in tax
– Working in the tax industry
– Public sector vs. private sector career paths
– Switching between industries
– Academic careers in tax
– Writing and publishing academic or professional articles
– Preparing for a Ph.D. in tax law 
– CV development and interview preparation
– Open dialogue on the mentee’s professional interests

Programme Structure

The programme runs over four months and includes 4-5 sessions:

– Joint sessions elated to tax careers, professional development, and trends in the field as well as networking opportunities among mentees across institutions and sector
– 1:1 mentoring focussing on individual goals, development areas, and ongoing progress

Goal Setting

During the programme, each mentee works with their mentor to establish:

– Long-term professional goals
– Short-term goals to work on during the programme
– Practical steps and checkpoints for development

Evaluation
At the end of the programme, mentees complete an evaluation to help improve the structure, content, and impact of the mentoring experience.
